Massimo Ambrosini, a veteran footballer and captain of Serie A club Milan until now has been released by the club, hence making him a free agent on 1 July 2013.
Having won the UEFA Champions League twice, the bellicose midfielder, though disappointed by the club's way of informing him of the decision, does approve of the apparent reasons that would validate Milan's decision not to offer him a new offer.
The 36 year old thanked the Rossoneri for the "18 wonderful years" during a farewell press conference. He had his share of success with Milan, since he first joined the club in 1995 from AC Cesena. Massimo won the Scudetto four times, the Coppa Italia once and the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup twice. He netted 36 goals in 489 games for Milan.
"It is not my place to say whether it was the right decision or not, but it can't go down as a shocking decision seeing as I am 36 years old," Ambrosini said.
His exit from the Serie A outfit does not mean his retirement though. Ambrosini insists that he has no intention of retiring and more so because he still regards himself as a player.
