Contrary to reports linking French international winger Hatem Ben Arfa with a move away from St. James' Park, the former Lyon and Marseille player will put pen to paper on a new four year contract at Newcastle.
Ambitious Monaco were amongst the teams monitoring Ben Arfa's situation at Newcastle, but manager Alan Pardew made sitting down with the player and discussing a new contract one of his top priorities.
The 26-year-old has been with the Toon Army since 2011 and is a fan favorite at the club; unfortunately for both player and club Hatem was only able to play in 19 Premier League games last year as he recovered from a nasty hamstring injury that saw him out of action for over 3 months.
Newcastle are eager to tie Ben Arfa down to the club for his best years though, and a deal will be agreed with the player's representatives some time in the next few weeks.
