Reports suggest that Julio Cesar may snub Arsenal for a move to AS Roma. As for now it seems Arsenal will be stuck with their own homegrown lot of goalkeepers for yet another season.
The 33 year old whose currently representing for Brazil in goal, at the ongoing FIFA Confederations Cup has 72 caps with the national team.He had previously spent 7 years in Italy as Internazionale’s number 1.
He made a shock switch to QPR in 2012 but is now planning his way out after the team's relegation to the Npower Championship.
Goalkeeping has always been Arsenal’s Achilles heel since the departure of Jens Lehmann in 2008. After a series of failures by his successors, Wenger finally decided to place the Polish greenhorn Wojciech Szczęsny as his first choice.Although the 23-year -old has provided some stability at goal , he has had criticization for his decision making skills, and still has a long way to improve before becoming a ‘secure’ prospect.
Cesar has now left a window of opportunity open for the Gunners by admiring Roma’s interest, but refusing to commit to a club. The Brazilian shot-stopper told Sky Sports, “I’m happy to hear about the Roma interest. But at the moment I don’t want to talk about my future. I am only thinking about Brazil. But I’m here at the moment and QPR will decide my future as well.”
