Mata not hoping for Chelsea exit

Mata not hoping for Chelsea exit

26 June 2013 - 14:35

Juan Mata has denied that he is hoping to make an exit from Chelsea despite talk of a potential move this summer. According to several reports, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho wants to sell Mata to fund a deal for other players.

  • Barcelona are amongst the teams interested in the attacking midfielder, who starred last year for Chelsea pulling the strings alongside Frank Lampard.

Mata is bemused by reports that he will soon be leaving the club.

“I do not know,” Mata said. “Mourinho will want to see everyone and make his judgements. From the club, the last time I spoke with them, they communicated confidence and told me that I was a very important player.

“About Real Madrid I have only good words. I spent four years there growing as a player and as a person. I have many friends there and I stay in touch with people. But I have spent two good years in London, so the only thing I am thinking about is to keep enjoying this league and this city which I love.”
