Sunderland close in on Gino Peruzzi transfer

28 June 2013 - 06:11

Argentina international right back Gino Peruzzi is closing in on a move to Sunderland. The club is now ready to make a $5 million deal for the Velez defender.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • The Black Cats' manager Paolo Di Canio has been monitoring the player for over two months.

The versatile 21-year-old - who is comfortable playing in both defence and in midfield - has been chased by a host of European clubs but Sunderland have won the race.
Peruzzi has appeared for Argentina's national team four times, so is almost automatically eligble for a work permit in England.
Sunderland have been busy in the transfer market this summer but have mostly parted ways with players as opposed to signing them.
