Oscar Cardozo linked with Man City move

02 July 2013 - 15:03

Premier League giants Man City who have just sold forward Carlos Tevez to Juventus last week are now looking for the perfect replacement and appear to have turned their attentions to Benfica striker Oscar Cardozo.

  • Arsenal to hijack Chelsea deal for English winger?
  • Arsenal & Chelsea battling to sign Ajax defender

  • The incoming Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini will look for options to strengthen his attack front in the coming weeks.

According to the Daily mail, the Manchester City manager has set sights on Benfica marksman Oscar Cardozo. 30-year-old Cardozo scored 25 goals for the Premeira Liga runners up last season. Manchester City will have to stump up major cash if they are to buy strike target Oscar Cardozo from Benfica.

A source close to the deal said that "There have been many enquiries and interest from a variety of leagues - some more serious than others, including England - but because of his elevated release clause it is all in the hands of the [Benfica] president.

"Once a deal is done [between clubs], we will enter into negotiations with them but until that point, nothing."

A bid of £13million would be enough to entice the Europa League runners-up to hand over their player to the Etihad Stadium.
