Liverpool Sign Kolo Toure

Liverpool Sign Kolo Toure

02 July 2013 - 18:41

Liverpool have finally wrapped up the deal with former Manchester City centre-back, Kolo Toure, who will move to the Anfield on a free transfer. Toure, 32, becomes Brendon Rodger’s fourth signing this summer as we see his Manchester City contract expire.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • The 32-year-old moved to the Etihad stadium from Arsenal in a £12 million deal but soon lost his place in the Champions League squad after making just 13 appearances for the team.

Toure deemed Liverpool’s stature as a driving force for him to accept the contract with the club. He has been fairly successful during his 11 years of stay in England, having won two Premier League titles and three FA Cups.

Liverpool have completed their fourth signing for the summer in the form of this deal as forwards Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas and goalkeeper Simon Mignolet have already arrived at the Anfield.

The centre-back talked to the club’s official website and praised the club for its glorious past.

"This means a lot to me”

"Firstly, I'm joining one of the best clubs in England. When I left City it was important for me to stay in England because it's the best league - and to join Liverpool is massive for me.

"I chose Liverpool because of the history and because of the spirit of the team and the people here."
