Chelsea Improve Offer For De Rossi

04 July 2013 - 17:31

Jose Mourinho is reportedly set to up his preliminary bid of £10m to £15m for Italian midfielder Daniele De Rossi. It has been reported that Chelsea are keen on landing the Roma man.

  • Mourinho has opened talks with the Serie A club to accomplish the summer move of De Rossi, according to Goal. De Rossi is one of the top targets of Stamford Bridge as new boss Mourinho looks to renovate his side ahead of the next season. ‘The Special One’ looks to make the Italian international pivotal to the new look Chelsea midfield.

The 29-year-old, 84-cap Italian, has been with the Serie A outfit for over 12 years now but the prospects of a club exit look stronger now than ever. De Rossi has had a disappointing season with Roma and has even lost his starting place in the team’s midfield.

De Rossi is one of the highest paid players in the Serie A, with reported earnings of £5.1 million a year, which could be a problem for Jose Mourinho.

The midfielder is hugely admired by another Premier League club Manchester City, who were close to signing him last year but failed to complete the deal as De Rossi agreed on another season with Roma.
