Liverpool to bid for Aly Cissokho

Liverpool are looking to take advantage of Valencia’s financial woes, as their manager Brendran Rodgers is set to bid £4m for the La Liga club left-back Aly Cissokho.

  • Lucas Digne of Lille appeared to be Rodgers’ primary target for the left-back position but with AS Monaco looking favourites to steal him from Liverpool’s sights, Rodgers is firmly monitoring Cissokho as a prospective signing.

The 25-year old Cissokho joined Valencia last summer following a respective three year campaign with French giants Lyon, prior to which he plyed his trade for Primeira Liga champions FC Porto. The French international has made 36 appearances for Valencia in all competitions since his move.

Aly Cissokho was associated with a move to the Toffees last year as a prospective replacement for Leighton Baines, who was linked with a move to join the Premier League champions Manchester United. This year his wish to play in the English Premier League might well come through as the Reds look likely to lose Jose Enrique to Southampton.

The full-back has a solitary cap to his name for the French national side, a friendly against Norway three years ago.
