  • The Velez Sarsfield defender's deal had almost fallen through after Peruzzi's salary demands were some way off of Sunderland's original offer. However, after further discussions a deal is expected to be completed shortly.

"Given the imminent transfer of Gino Peruzzi to Sunderland Association Football Club, finally next Sunday, July 14, both the player and the directors Julio Baldomar and Eduardo Ordonez will travel to England to complete initial contracts between the parties and thus close the sale," read a statement on Velez Sarsfield's website.
