  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Sociedad reluctantly let their star player join Real as the capital club matched the player's buyout clause. The two teams had been locked in talks over a transfer for over a month, at one point both Arsenal and even Barcelona were interested in the midfielder.<br />

"I came to the conclusion that it was an offer I couldn't refuse. It's a unique opportunity," said the player.<br />

"It hasn't been an easy decision; it has been very difficult for me because Real Sociedad have given me so much."<br />

The 23-year-old will immediately link up with his new teammates tomorrow as Real Madrid prepare for pre-season training.
