Arsenal turn their attentions to Geoffrey Kondogbia

13 July 2013 - 01:13

Arsenal have turned their attentions to Sevilla's Geoffrey Kondogbia after Maxime Gonalons snubbed a move to the Gunners recently. The Gunners have diverted their attention to the La Liga based star in their long search for a defensive midfielder.

Arsenal lacked a holding midfielder at the back last season with the departure of Alex Song, and Wenger has made signing a similar kind of player a priority during the summer transfer window. Kondogbia is reportedly attracting interest of other clubs such as Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United.

The Daily Mail claims that North London club could take advantage of Sevilla’s poor financial situation to get Kondogbia on the cheap. They have already sold their crowning jewel Jesus Navas earlier this summer to join Manchester City, while Alvaro Negredo is also expected to make a switch away from the club.

Wenger is striving to find a defensive midfielder and he may have find a solution to the problem in 20-year old Kondogbia, who can also play in central defence and left-back.
