Man Utd recommended Nicolas Castillo

14 July 2013 - 05:59

Manchester United scouts watched Chile striker Nicolas Castillo in action for his country during the recent FIFA Under 20 World Cup and were very impressed with his performances. The Universidad Catolica forward scored four goals in the tournament held in Turkey.

  • Arsenal handed major boost on Odegaard for Newcastle trip
  • Enzo Maresca explains why Cole Palmer didn't face Newcastle

  • It is understood that fellow Chilean forward Angelo Hernandez, who is currently on the books at Man Utd and spent last year on loan at Wigan, has personally recommended his fellow countryman to the club.

Juventus and Valencia are two other teams interested in Castillo, but United are known to be ready to spend up to $6 million to secure the talented youngster's signing.

Castillo, who burst onto the scene in Chile's top flight in 2011, is now an important member of the first team at Catolica and has already appeared once for Chile's full national team.
