Roma wrap up Mehdi Benatia deal

14 July 2013 - 11:26

Roma have completed a move for Moroccan international defender Mehdi Benatia, in a deal that sees the player move to Rome from Serie A rivals Udinese for around 13.5 million Euros.

  • Arsenal handed injury boost on defender ahead of Bournemouth clash
  • Chelsea planning shock move for Man City winger?

  • Roma's top target this summer was to ensure that Benatia would move to the Olympic Stadium, and yesterday a deal was finally agreed between the two sides.

Last season Benatia missed out on nearly six months of action as he battled injury, but the 26-year-old, who has played for Marseille and Clermont in the past, is very highly rated in Italy and Roma are hopeful that the player will be an important member of their first team this season as they have ambitions to win the Serie A title in what will be Francesco Totti's final year.
