AS Roma have officially announced the signing of Dinamo Zagreb defender Tin Jedvaj. Jedvaj has been offered a three-year deal by the club.
The 17-year-old teenager had reportedly drawn interest from several European clubs, such as Arsenal , Tottenham and AC Milan but Roma swooped in to beat the others to complete the signing of the Croatian.
The young centre-back has been deemed to be the future of the Croatian national team and is a highly rated player. The Serie A outfit would be pleased by the new signing that cost them €5 million.
The club director Italo Zanzi, released a statement via the club’s official website, confirming the completion of the deal.
"AS Roma announce that we have agreed a deal with GNK Dinamo Zagreb for Tin Jedvaj for a sum of €5m.
"The Croatian player has signed a three-year contract with us, which will expire in 2016.”
Jedvaj claims that he is physically and technically apt to defend against any attacker and that he fears none.
"The attackers are very strong in Italy, but I'm not afraid of anyone on the pitch. I think my strengths are my technical skills and my positional sense on the pitch.
"As role models, I have Thiago Silva and David Luiz. I'd like to be like them, because they are sure of their own ability."
