The French giants, Paris Saint-Germain, have officially announced the signing of Lille left back, Lucas Digne. The 19-year-old had been chased by the Ligue 1 champions all summer and has now put pen to paper on a five-year-deal.

  • Digne was strongly linked with a move away from Lille, with the youngster being tracked by both the French giants PSG and Monaco. He has however agreed on a deal, which is believed to be in the region of €15 million, with PSG.

The player will now play under the guidance of Laurent Blanc. He has featured in the France U20 team that won the World Cup in Turkey in July.

PSG chairman, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, told the club’s official website:

"Lucas Digne, one of the great hopes of French football, recent winner of the World Cup and less than 20 years old, courted by leading clubs, chooses Paris Saint-Germain to assert himself on the European stage.

"We are particularly pleased to welcome a young French player in our team."

Digne also revealed his happiness after joining the club and he called it a childhood dream.

"Playing at Paris Saint-Germain with exceptional players is a childhood dream and a great joy. After becoming a world champion, I had a fantastic summer. I thank the club officials for their confidence."
