Arsenal will sign Julio Cesar only if he takes a pay-cut

22 July 2013 - 00:50

Arsenal are set to completed a deal for Queens Park Rangers keeper Julio Cesar within this week if they come up with an agreement over the player's wage demands. If a deal is struck, this would be one of Arsenal's major signings of the summer transfer window.

According to the Metro ,the Brazilian International goalkeeper actually earns a mere £45,000-a-week at recently relegated QPR but Arsenal are only willing to offer £30,000-a-week to the Brazilian star.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • If Cesar does take a pay-cut, this would pave the way for his move to North London as Serie A giants Napoli have pulled out of the chase following their deal for Pepe Reina on a season long loan coming close to agreement.

Cesar would be a first choice at the Emirates should he make the move as he eyes a starting berth at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.Arsenal would also have the wealth of experience brought by Julio Cesar having represented Inter Milan at the highest level. This would provide the perfect competition to the Polish goalkeepers Sczcesny and Fabianski.
