Real Madrid's manager Carlo Ancelotti is hopeful that he can keep Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain. The forward has been linked with a transfer to Arsenal in recent months, but it appears that the striker is very much in Ancelotti's plans for the new season.

  • The forward has also attracted the interests of Italian side Napoli, but Real Madrid have denied that an offer has been received for the player.

“It’s not true. I don’t have news about this," said Ancelotti.

“I spoke to Higuain this week. As I said, he’s a Real Madrid player and until there are news, I have to consider him a Real Madrid player and I would like he would stay with us.

“I think that now I speak of Higuain as a Real Madrid player, fantastic player, fantastic striker. For him tonight to score very important for us. It’s not tonight to judge the price of the player.”
