Napoli To Improve Offer For Higuain

22 July 2013 - 17:20

Amidst recent media reports, that suggested Real Madrid coach Carlos Ancelotti has denied Higuain’s move away from the club, it is believed that Napoli are prepared to up their offer to around €37m for the striker.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • According to Goal.com, the Serie A side are looking to fund Higuain’s move to the club by the proceeds of Edinson Cavani’s €60m sale to PSG.

It was earlier suggested by some media reports that Napoli had come to an agreement with Real Madrid over Higuain’s transfer but in an interview after a 6-0 win over Bournemouth in a friendly, Ancelotti quashed all such speculations linking the Argentine to Napoli.

Napoli are reportedly focused on the acquisition of the 25-year-old after having failed to lure Leandro Damiao from Internacional. Arsenal’s interest in the player is not a steady one as Wenger has made Luis Suarez his top summer target now.

Napoli are also understood to be willing to pay the forward a handsome weekly wage of €116,000, a figure that he agreed on with the Gunners, earlier this transfer season. Although Ancelotti is not willing to sell his star player, it is believed that another bid from Napoli in excess of €35m could be a real test for him.
