Deco To Retire At the End Of The Season

22 July 2013 - 19:25

Former Portugal international midfielder Deco has revealed that he is open to retirement from football at the end of 2013. He admitted that aging could be a factor in stunting his performance on the pitch so he could no longer guarantee the quality of gameplay that once made him a midfield sensation.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The former Porto, Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder told TV Globo :

"In football time is short. It makes me nostalgic thinking about it”

"But there comes a time when you are no longer able to compete with the same strength and intensity.

"I am competitive and I always want to win. I have a contract until the end of the year and I have set myself on having a good Campeonato Brasileiro."

Deco is one of the nine players who have won the UEFA Champions League with two different clubs, Porto and Barcelona.
