Roma deal for Arsenal forward Gervinho stalls

25 July 2013 - 02:49

Italian club AS Roma were hopeful that a deal could be agreed with Arsenal to sign Ivory Coast striker Gervinho, but it appears the Gunners' hefty 11 million Euro valuation of the player has put off potential suitors.

 • Man Utd set to hold contract talks with experienced star
 • Gervinho, who joined Arsenal from Lille in 2011 for a reported 12 million Euros, has been told he is free to leave the club if the Gunners are able to find a new forward to replace him.
Roma representatives flew to London yesterday to discuss a potential transfer for Gervinho with Arsenal executives, and it is understood they have already returned to Italy after talks stalled straight away.
Arsenal's squad are currently in Japan and await their pre-season friendly with Urawa Red Diamonds this Friday; it is understood that when the team return to England they will re-open discussions with Roma regarding a transfer away for the Ivorian.
