Liverpool owners have no plans to sell club

27 July 2013 - 07:14

Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) were reportedly ready to sell Liverpool, just three years after their purchase of the club. However, FSG have moved quickly to deny reports of a sale.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • John W Henry purchased the club back in October 2010 and has been heavily involved in the day to day running of Liverpool since then, most notably this past week when he took to Twitter to laugh off Arsenal's bid for forward Luis Suarez.

This weekend, The Sun has reported that Henry is ready to sell the club.

But FSG have released a statement that confirms the rumours are false: "Fenway Sports Group has made its position clear, Liverpool Football Club is not for sale. There is no truth in this story.

"Like so many rumours in the past about a sale of Liverpool Football Club, there is absolutely no truth in this. We have had no meetings with anyone about a sale, we don't know who the source of the rumour is."
