Blackburn struggle to agree terms with Bannan

30 July 2013 - 17:28

Blackburn Rovers' boss Gary Bowyer has revealed that talks between the club and Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan has broken down.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The Championship side have had their bid accepted by Villa but have failed to agree personal terms with the Scotland international.

Bowyer is keen on bringing a couple of new players before the Championship season kicks off this weekend. The manager confirmed that Cameroon born defender Yann Songo is still undergoing trial at the club.

"We had a bid and that was accepted, but we've not continued talks at this present moment in time," Bowyer told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"We're exploring all options, there might be a chance it might happen, if not we have to be prepared for it not happening.

"We've just got to keep as many plates spinning at the moment as we possibly can. We have a massive list and we're exploring all avenues at this moment but we are hopeful of bringing in certainly one or maybe two more."
