Southampton set lose millions if Bale joins Real

31 July 2013 - 15:12

Southampton are set to lose out on close to £11 million if Tottenham decide to sell Welsh winger Gareth bale to Real Madrid this summer, according to Sky Sports.

 • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
 • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
 • Tottenham signed Gareth Bale from the Saints back in 2007 and the 24 year old has since then gone on to become one of the most promising young footballers in the world.
There was a sell-on clause inserted into the deal which meant that Southampton would be paid 15 percent of the transfer amount if Bale is sold by the North Londoners.
However, the club decided to waive the sell-on clause and settled for £1.5 million plus youth goalkeeper Tommy Forecast. The deal, apparently, is turning out to be a disaster for the Premier League club as they are staring at losing around seven times the amount they were paid by Tottenham.
