Tottenham are closing in on a move for Romanian international centre back Vlad Chriches. The Staeua Bucharest defender is being lined up as a replacement for Steven Caulker, who joined Cardiff City last week.

The 23-year-old Romanian international international has also been linked with a move to Serie A side Roma in recent weeks, with Spurs having their initial offer of 8 million Euros rejected for the defender. Spurs have been forced to up their offer to 10 million Euros today to secure a deal for the defender.<br />

Spurs are set to sell Clint Dempsey to Seattle Sounders this weekend and are believed to be ready to use that money to sign Chiriches.
