Chelsea and Liverpool target Alexis Sanchez set to stay at Camp Nou

03 August 2013 - 12:36

Premier League clubs Chelsea and Liverpool are set to walk on a path of disappointment in their pursuit of Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez, reports the Daily Star.Barcelona’s Vice President Josep Maria Bartomeu denied claims of the Chilean International Sanchez leaving the Nou Camp this summer.

Bartomeu said: "Alexis is not for sale. We trust in his ability. It has long been speculated that he may leave, but not since he arrived at the club have we received a proposal. He will continue with us. We are pleased with his performances and we will not make him available in the transfer market."

Sanchez arrived at the Catalan club during the 2011 summer transfer window from Serie A outfit Udinese after loan spells at Chilean club Colo-Colo and Argentine giants River Plate earlier in his career at the Italian club.

  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Big spending French giants Monaco were also keen on the Chilean, but after dishing out extravagant sums of cash on other targets this summer, the Ligue 1 side are still considering whether or not to launch a bid for the star forward.
