Sunderland set to continue in their pursuit for Gino Peruzzi ?

04 August 2013 - 04:05

Argentine outfit Velez Sarsfield claim a deal with Premier League side Sunderland for the sale of Gino Peruzzi is still ongoing, according to The Journal.

Club President Miguel Calello made a statement yesterday saying that the Black Cats are awaiting a final decision from the Argentine club for the player's signature.Sunderland boss Paolo di Canio has earlier said that there was ‘no chance’ the deal would happen this summer.

Calello said: “We have been talking to the people at the English club and during Wednesday we’re going to have a further meeting with the coaching staff. They are going to take a final decision to see if there is any change with respect to what they had said to us.”

  • Chelsea want to sign Alejandro Garnacho for £30m?
  • Chelsea agree deal to sign wonderkid for €40m

  • Peruzzi who is still not up to full fitness, failed a medical with the Black Cats last month ahead of a £3.3m switch to the Stadium of Light.

Gino Peruzzi looks likely not to join Sunderland this summer to his recurring knee problems, as Di Canio states his club cannot afford to sign injured players. “My club is not a club that can sign players with some problems. We are not Manchester City”.
