Chelsea to make mega money offer for Man Utd star Wayne Rooney

04 August 2013 - 10:45

Manchester United are ready to listen to offers from Chelsea for England international striker Wayne Rooney, but it is understood that the Red Devils will only listen to offers in excess of £50 million for the 27 year old.

  • Constantly linked with a move away from Old Trafford, Rooney has repeatedly told friends and colleagues that he wants to stay at Man United but only if he receives a good reception from the club's home support. It is understood that many at United are unhappy with the way that Rooney acted towards the end of last season, particularly because of his behaviour at the time that Sir Alex Ferguson announced his retirement.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho already has Fernando Torres, Romelu Lukaku and Demba Ba at his disposal, but the Portuguese coach is hopeful that he can bring in one more striker ahead of the new season. The Blues are now preparing an initial offer of £50 million for the striker and could even sell Demba Ba this summer with German side Borussia Dortmund the latest team to express an interest in the Senegalese international.
