Tottenham deal for Vlad Chiriches falls through

A Tottenham move for Romanian centre back Vlad Chiriches appears to have fallen through at the last minute, with the Staeua Bucharest defender deciding against a move to the Premier League.

The talented defender has long been linked with a move to Tottenham and had been suggested as a replacement for Steven Caulker, who last week joined Cardiff City.<br />

However, the player's agent has revealed that Chiriches only wants to move to Italy and will be pushing for a move to Serie A. Ioan Becali said: "The player only wants to go to a big club and Italy attracts him the most."
