Wenger accepts Liverpool's stance over Luis Suarez

09 August 2013 - 21:48

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted that he will respect Liverpool's decision should they opt to keep Luis Suarez at Anfield beyond the summer.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea suffer double injury blow ahead of Villa trip

  • The Frenchman has been keen on adding to his squad this summer and has been clear about his intentions to sign the wantaway Liverpool front man.

Suarez has been trying to push through his transfer and subsequently inviting strong criticism from the Liverpool fans and former players alike. The Uruguay international has accused the Reds of not honoring the deal they had whereby the club agreed to let him leave should they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

However, despite the striker's wishes the club owner has reiterated their desire to keep Suarez at the club.

Speaking at a press conference in Helsinki, he said: "There is nothing to add to what I said already about the transfer of Suarez.

"If it will be done, it will be done in a respectful and amicable way with Liverpool.

"We are looking at possibilities to strengthen our squad. Suarez is one of the targets. If he's not for sale, he's not for sale, we have to accept that."
