Roma playmaker Miralem Pjanic has been lined up as a replacement for Gareth Bale at White Hart Lane. The Welsh forward Bale is expected to complete a transfer to Real Madrid before the end of the transfer window.
Pjanic has been earmarked as a potential successor for Bale by Spurs' director of football Franco Baldini but the Bosnian international will not come cheap, with a pricetag of around 17 million Euros.
Since arriving at Roma from Lyon back in 2011, the 23-year-old has taken Serie A by storm with his excellent showings at the heart of Roma's midfield.
With two years remaining on his current contract, Tottenham will feel that Roma will be ready to discuss terms on a transfer for the player.
Roma manager Rudi Garcia has been busy so far in the transfer window; last week the Frenchman signed Gervinho. However, Garcia wants to wrap up a deal for Pjanic's transfer as soon as possible, so that he has time to find a suitable replacement.
