Bayern chairman dismisses Lewandowski and Mandzukic swap deal

Bayern chairman dismisses Lewandowski and Mandzukic swap deal

10 August 2013 - 17:37

Bayer Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has dismissed suggestions of a possible swap deal involving Mario Mandzukic and Borussia Dortmund ace Robert Lewandowski.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea suffer double injury blow ahead of Villa trip

  • The Bundesliga champions have been in hot pursuit of the Poland international this summer but Dortmund have refused to let the striker leave Westfalenstadion this summer.

Lewandowski has been vocal about his intentions about joining Bayern but Dortmund are prepared to lose the striker for free next summer when his contract expires.

However, rumors about a possible swap deal involving Mario Mandzukic and Lewandowski have been doing the rounds but Rummenigge has ruled out any such possibility.

"This is something I do not favour. This will not take place," he told Sport1 media.

"We are delighted about Mario Mandzukic's stay at our club. He is a very important player for Bayern Munich.

"There is no doubt you could easily spot this against BSV Rehden this week. The manager was totally pleased and happy with Mario."
