Marseille set to make a move for Arsenal target Florian Thauvin

12 August 2013 - 13:22

French Ligue 1 outfit Marseille are set to make a second bid for Lille midfielder Florian Thauvin. The Stade Velodrome side had initially failed with a £4.7m offer for the French playmaker, who has yet to appear for Lille in any competition.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • Thauvin signed for the former French Ligue 1 champions Lille from Bastia in January. He was loaned off to Bastia for the rest of the season and his reputation has soared up to greater heights after he played an important role in France's Under-20 World Cup success in July.

There have been speculation linking Thauvin with an exit from Lille without making a single appearance after he was left out of their match-day squad for their opening Ligue 1 fixture against Lorient last weekend.

Marseille are regarded as favourites to land the talented midfielder before the conclusion of the transfer window.
