McClaren slammed for LA visit

McClaren slammed for LA visit

05 November 2007 - 22:52

England legend Terry Butcher has slammed Steve McClaren's decision to travel 5000 miles to a charity/celebrity match in which David Beckham was playing. Butcher labelled the game as a complete waste of time.

  • Enzo Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea
  • Man Utd can finally sign Ederson for huge bargain fee
  • McClaren watched Beckham score two goals on Sunday night and make three more in Los Angeles Galaxy's 12-4 win over a Hollywood United team featuring a number of former players and celebrities.

"For the England manager to be watching that is farcical," Butcher told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"What can Beckham show the England manager in that sort of game?" questioned Butcher.

Beckham on the other hand said: "I am loving it," the 32-year-old midfielder assured Sky Sports News. "It's been great so far, very positive and smooth apart from the season."
