Napoli ready to steal Zapata from QPR

15 August 2013 - 13:26

Serie A side Napoli have made a last minute bid for Estudiantes striker Duvan Zapata dealing a heavy blow to Queens Park Rangers' hopes of signing him.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The Serie A runners' up from 2012-13 season are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season and manager Rafael Benitez has identified Zapata as a key target.

Rangers have had their bid accepted for Zapata and the 20 year old is believed to have passed his medical at the club. The only issue that has prevented the completion of his transfer to Loftus Road is his work permit.

Napoli remain hopeful to snatch the talented striker away from Rangers after tabling a £6 million bid.

However, Zapata is believed to be still keen on a move to England as he is unlikely to be guaranteed first team chances at the Naples club.

The Colombia U 20 international has been prolific for the Argentine club previous season.
