Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio has ruled out a summer departure for Stephane Sessegnon. The former Paris St Germain forward had been linked with a move back to France but it appears he will be staying at the Stadium of Light for another year at least.
A host of Middle Eastern clubs had expressed an interest in Sessegnon, with Qatari El-Jaish reportedly keen to take the player.
"I have to be clear: I don’t want to sell Sessegnon," Di Canio said. "It’s not something that we have to speak about privately with the board. I don’t want to sell Sessegnon.
"I have given my opinion already: Sessegnon is not for sale and we need to bring in one central midfield player."
