Fenerbahce wait on CAS appeal fate

21 August 2013 - 19:16

Turkish club Fenerbahce will have to wait till after their Champions League qualifying tie against Arsenal to know their fate, whether they'll be allowed to continue their campaign or whether they will be disqualified.

  • Arsenal to hijack Chelsea deal for English winger?
  • Arsenal & Chelsea battling to sign Ajax defender

  • The Turkish club were given a two year ban from all European competitions last June after a match fixing scandal, but the ban was lifted while their appeal is heard.

Arsenal play Fenerbahce in the final qualifying round for the group stage of the Champions league, with the first tie set to be played in Turkey tonight.

If Fenerbahce win the playoff but lost their case, their place will be given to the Gunners.

CAS will also decide on appeals from Metalist Kharkiv and Besiktas, who were also given similar bans for match fixing.
