Everton and Benfica do battle for Luca Marrone signature

Juventus' midfielder Luca Marrone has been linked with a move to Premier League side Everton and Portuguese side Benfica, with the Toffees believed to be favourites to land the 23-year-old before the transfer window slams shut.

Marrone has been on the books at Juve since 1998 as a youth player, but has been told he is free to leave the club having slipped down the pecking order at the Turin side.<br />

Marrone has only managed to muster up 15 first team appearances since 2009, despite playing regularly for the Italian under 21 side.
