Stoke City looking to add more pace to current squad

25 August 2013 - 16:14

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes is on the lookout for new players that will inject some pace into his current squad. It is understood that Hughes has been in contact with a French side regarding a potential move for a new striker.

  • Stoke have so far been relatively quiet in the transfer window having only added Marc Muniesa and Erik Pieters to his squad. It is understood that signing some pace in his midfield now remains his top priority.

West Brom have been linked with a move for Marseille forward Jordan Ayew, and Stoke City could be planning to hijack a move for the Ghana international.

"We need a few extra faces and possibly a little bit more pace in the side than we have at the moment," Hughes quipped.

"So we will look for that type of player I would think, but a lot of clubs and managers are looking at the same types of players so it is not easy to get them over the line at the moment."
