Per Mertesacker is being chased by Juventus. The Werder Bremen and Germany international defender is valued at around £8m, and it is believed that Juventus have already made a bid last summer for the defender.
In August of 2006 he moved to Werder Bremen in a €5 million transfer deal after a highly impression, in the 2006 FIFA World Cup, in which Germany finished 3rd.
Aston Villa were interested in signing the central defender during close season, but a deal failed to materialise. Mertesacker is rated as one of the best defenders in Germany, and Bayern Munich will be monitoring his situation closely as the Bavarians are known to hold a long-term interest in him.
