Lyon forward Bafetimbi Gomis has seen a transfer to Newcastle fall through a second time this summer after the French club's chairman Jean Michel Aulas admitted Newcastle's best efforts to agree a fee for Gomis have failed.
Pardew will now look elsewhere for a new striker and there are reports of a possible move for Fabio Borini of Newcastle.
Aulas wrote on Twitter: "We have to face facts, there isn’t an offer that Bafe has accepted despite (interest from) the ‘English’ and the ‘Turks’ and Lyon need a player like him."
