Real Madrid reject Fabio Coentrao loan move talk

01 September 2013 - 16:54

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has ruled out a move away from Spain for defender Fabio Coentrao, who has attracted the interest of Tottenham so far this summer. Coentrao had been mentioned as a possible makeweight in a deal seeing Gareth Bale move from Tottenham to Madrid.

  • “Fabio Coentrao is staying,” Carlo Ancelotti said. “He had said he wanted to leave, but I did not want that. Everyone -- the players, the coaches, the club, is very happy with this decision.”<br />

The Portuguese defender appears to be an important part of Ancelotti's squad for the season ahead and therefore will be expected to stay put for the time being, seemingly ending Tottenham's hopes of securing a deal for the defender.
