Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala has revealed that the Portuguese side turned down a late offer from Manchester City to secure his services this transfer window.
The 22 year old France international has been sought after by a lot of top European clubs this summer including the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United but Porto are adamant to keep hold of the highly rated French defender.
City manager Manuel Pellegrini had insisted that there is a need to sign a defender following their dismal showing in the first two games of the season. However, despite turning up with an offer on transfer deadline day Porto rejected it.
Mangala, however, is happy to remain with his current club and is confident of another successful season with them.
"Manchester City were interested a few days ago, but nothing was ever close," he told A Bola.
"I'm a Porto player and I feel good here. I have no problem with this issue.
"I am fine here and focused on what we can do this season."
