Arsenal's club record signing Mesut Özil has insisted that manager Arsene Wenger was the main factor as to why he chose a switch to the North London outfit from La Liga giants Real Madrid on transfer deadline day.
The German international playmaker, who signed for the Gunners for a club record fee of £42.5m, has claimed that the faith reposed on him by the Frenchman lured him to join the club within the conclusion of the transfer window.
Özil told the club's official website : "The coach is a world-class manager, he's demonstrated that for years.
"A lot of players have developed under his guidance in the past and that's why I decided to join Arsenal. The most important thing is that the manager has given me his trust."
Özil's departure from Los Blancos left a discontent atmosphere among many of his former teammates including the likes Cristiano Ronaldo, who described the player's exit as "very bad news".
