Paris Saint-Germain defender Alex has expressed that his former teammate Mamadou Sakho made the right decision to swap the French Ligue 1 side for Liverpool.
Sakho signed for the Reds on transfer deadline-day citing regular first-team football as his reason for the switch.
Alex believes that Sakho was eager to earn a call-up for France ahead of next summer's World Cup in Brazil.
He told ESPN: "He's a great player, he needs to play.
"It's a good choice for him because he has joined a great club. He wants to play the World Cup so he has to play.
"He's a player with talent and a future. It's a choice we understand."
Sakho is in contention to debut for the Reds when they face Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Monday.
