Udinese reward Luis Muriel with new contract

Serie A side Udinese have confirmed that they have tied down young striker Luis Muriel on a five year contract which will run till 2018.

  • The 22 year old Colombian forward joined the Azurris in 2010 and has since then been sent out on loan spells to get regular first team experience. Muriel enjoyed most successful season at the club last term when he ended with 11 goals from 22 appearances.



    "We have extended Muriel's contract to secure the player, to reward him and to encourage him to continue on this path," Udinese's sports director Cristiano Giaretta said.



    "He is already in a great club and he has yet to show all his qualities if he wants to play in one of the ten most important teams in the world."



    Muriel has gone off to an impressive start in the new season having scored four times for Udinese including a brace in their Europa League qualifier against Bosnian side Siroki Brijeg.
