Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has backed Luis Suarez and managing director Ian Ayre after the Liverpool chief admitted Suarez had damaged the club's brand around Europe.
Rodgers has been quick to defend Suarez when asked about Ayre's comments by reporters.
"I’ve seen the coverage of it, and it was very, very unfair on Ian, with all due respect, because he wasn’t talking about Luis Suarez -- he was talking more about the coverage as a whole," said Rodgers.
"It’s all behind us. We really need to focus on the now, and the future. The most important thing is that he’s available. I don’t think anyone wants to keep regurgitating that stuff all the time.
"It’s something that’s very much in the past. Ian’s comments were very much about the coverage it had generated. So we’re looking forward, and that’s my only interest as a manager."
