Everton manager Roberto Martinez: ' Lukaku was unplayable'

Everton manager Robert Martinez has praised the club's striker Romelu Lukaku following his impressive brace against Newcastle at Goodison Park yesterday.

  • The Belgian forward, on him home debut scored twice in the first half, as the Toffees beat the Magpies by a scoreline of 3-2. 



    Martinez heaped praised on the striker's awareness and believes he will get better and better as the season continues.



    Martinez told BBC Sport: "For a number nine to have that awareness of what was going on around him, Romelu Lukaku was unplayable.



    "He is going to get stronger and the players around him will learn how to play with him."



    Martinez also appreciated the performance of Ross Barkley, who scored the third goal on the night in a dominant first half for the Toffees.



    He added saying: "Ross Barkley is the sort of player who controls things in midfield that is unusual in a player his age. I think he is an exceptional ambassador, not only for Everton but English football as a whole.



    "It is almost a question of keeping him away from the training ground because he is so eager to improve himself."
