Everton manager Roberto Martinez: ' Lukaku was unplayable'

Everton manager Robert Martinez has praised the club's striker Romelu Lukaku following his impressive brace against Newcastle at Goodison Park yesterday.

  • The Belgian forward, on him home debut scored twice in the first half, as the Toffees beat the Magpies by a scoreline of 3-2.&nbsp;<br />

    Martinez heaped praised on the striker's awareness and believes he will get better and better as the season continues.<br />

    Martinez told BBC Sport: <em>"For a number nine to have that awareness of what was going on around him, Romelu Lukaku was unplayable.</em><br />

    <em>"He is going to get stronger and the players around him will learn how to play with him."</em><br />

    <em></em>Martinez also appreciated the performance of Ross Barkley, who scored the third goal on the night in a dominant first half for the Toffees.<br />

    He added saying: <em>"Ross Barkley is the sort of player who controls things in midfield that is unusual in a player his age. I think he is an exceptional ambassador, not only for Everton but English football as a whole.</em><br />

    <em>"It is almost a question of keeping him away from the training ground because he is so eager to improve himself."</em>
