PSG star Ibrahimovic tells Man Utd's Rooney to move to Ligue 1

04 October 2013 - 02:03

Paris St Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has told Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney to consider a move to France at the end of the season. Rooney has been persistently linked with an Old Trafford exit, with PSG amongst the teams all in the race for his signature.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • PSG reportedly tabled a 34 million Euro bid for Rooney that was swiftly rejected by Manchester United.

The Red Devils have repeatedly told potential suitors that Rooney is not for sale, but it is understood the England forward is privately considering a move to another country for a new challenge at the end of this current campaign.

Rooney has now received some words of advice from Sweden international Ibrahimovic, who has urged Rooney to make the move to France.

"When there was talk of Rooney joining us in Paris it was a prospect that excited me," said Ibrahimovic. "I think he made it clear in the summer that he wanted a fresh challenge -- and things have not been going so well for Manchester United this season.

"If he still wants to move next summer, or in January, I would urge him to come and play with me in Paris. The only direction this club is going is up."
