Adnan Januzaj a surprise candidate for England call up

06 October 2013 - 12:34

Manchester United manager has admitted that the Football Assocation approached him regarding the international availability of 18-year-old midfielder Adnan Januzaj. The player arrived in England aged 16 and has forced his way into United's first team this season.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players

  • After a match winning performance against Sunderland in the Premier League yesterday, manager David Moyes admits that he too is excited about the prospect of the youngster playing for England in the future. There are three teams competing for his international representation. His country of birth, Belgium, who he appears to have rejected so far. Secondly, his country of origin, Albania and then of course England where he plays his club football.

Moyes confirmed that the FA have approached him regarding Januzaj: "Yes, they have.

"I think there is somewhere where he could qualify for England yes. I don't know how that it is, I think it's something to do with his residency. I think he's got a choice of countries to play for and he's got probably three or four different countries to play for.

"Obviously he's been called up by Belgium several times and chose not to go at the moment. He's wanted by I think Albania, Croatia, and a few others, he can play for several countries, and England as well."
